The Northwestern Annual Fund is made up of a family of unrestricted funds. Gifts to Annual Funds are given with the intent of supporting the general vision or direction of the area that owns the fund. They are spent at the discretion of the President, Deans, and departmental directors associated with those areas. Unlike endowed funds which are comprised of principal amounts that generate limited revenue each year, Annual Funds are entirely and immediately expendable. Annual Funds are typically used to support the development of new curricula, faculty recruitment, and extracurricular experiences as well as to update facilities.
