Young Alumni Gift 2009-2010

A Message from the co-chairs

Even though we are no longer on campus, as Young Alumni who graduated since 2000, we can still make a meaningful impact. As young alumni, we represent—more than any other group—what it means to hold a Northwestern degree today. That’s why the Young Alumni Gift serves as such a powerful barometer for the University to gauge alumni enthusiasm for new initiatives, innovations, and accomplishments. Our collective gift helps ensure the continued success of current programs and the students and faculty who make them possible. Just take a look at the impressive results of our collective support over the last several years!

Young Alumni Gift 2008-2009: 2,555 young alums gave a total of $281,429
Young Alumni Gift 2007-2008: 2,780 young alums gave a total of $307,203
Young Alumni Gift 2006-2007: 2,285 young alums gave a total of $294,676

This year, as the economy is regaining strength, we want the Young Alumni Gift to return to and exceed previous levels. Our goal is to see 2,800 Young Alumni contribute a total of $300,000 to Northwestern. By taking part in this effort, you can show your enthusiasm for and commitment to the areas that matter to you most and further propel Northwestern during this transformative time.

Last year, most Young Alumni chose to direct their gifts to University Unrestricted and Student Scholarships, which are critical areas during times of economic uncertainty, when students require greater financial assistance and University leadership relies on current-use funds to make up for shortfalls elsewhere. We encourage you to direct your gift to the area of the University that fits your passion.



Every gift celebrates the value of a Northwestern degree today and the importance of the University’s research and teaching. With 2,800 of us making a gift of any size, we can help improve Northwestern’s overall reputation and our standing in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, which will continue to impact each of us far into the future.
